Appalshop Screening: Stranger with a Camera in Frankfort, KY

On Thursday, May 13 at 6:30pm, there will be a screening of "Stranger with a Camera" directed by Elizabeth Barret, as part of a film series at the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort, KY. Tickets to the film series are $4 for KHS members and $8 for the general public. The film series features two other Appalshop films. On Thursday, May 13, “Stranger with a Camera,” will be shown. "Coalmining Women" was shown on Thursday, April 8, "

"Stranger with a Camera" uses the murder of filmmaker Hugh O’Connor by his Appalachian landlord to explore the complex relationship between those who make films to promote social change and the people whose lives are represented in such productions. The film focuses on the O'Connor murder as a pivot point to explore issues of representation, culture, media and community.
